On 24 May 2019, Van Bael & Bellis counsel Isabelle Van Damme spoke on a panel addressing “Alternatives for appellate review and WTO dispute settlement” at a workshop organised by the World Trade Institute on “WTO Appellate Review: Reform Proposals and Alternatives” at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. Isabelle’s presentation focused on whether dispute settlement mechanisms established by recent regional and bilateral trade agreements could be used as a viable alternative to appellate review at the WTO.
