Overview

Lucas Jimenez focuses on international trade law, with an emphasis on trade remedy investigations and WTO law. Lucas has represented clients in numerous anti-dumping and safeguard investigations, particularly before Latin American authorities. Lucas also has experience with WTO dispute settlement proceedings, in both the panel and appeal stages, and has worked in cases involving the SCM Agreement, SPS Agreement, GATT 1994, and the Agreement on Agriculture. Additionally, Lucas has advised companies and governments on a variety of trade policy matters and issues arising under different international agreements, such as MERCOSUR and the CPTPP.

Prior to joining Van Bael & Bellis, Lucas was a Dispute Settlement Lawyer in the Legal Affairs Division of the WTO in Geneva. Before that, he was an associate in the trade and competition law practices of a leading Brazilian law firm based in Sao Paulo. Lucas’ previous work experience also includes acting as a consultant for the Sanctions Committee of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington.
