Overview

Emmanuelle Rogiest specializes in EU sanctions, trade defence, as well as customs matters. She joined the firm in 2022, following her LL.M at Columbia Law School.

Sanctions and export controls

Emmanuelle regularly advises clients on EU sanctions compliance and export controls, offering tailored guidance to industries as diverse as steel and medical devices. She has extensive experience assisting companies with obtaining licenses under EU sanctions regulations and maintains ongoing communication with EU authorities to ensure compliance and secure necessary approvals.

Trade Defence

In the realm of trade defence, Emmanuelle has represented clients across various sectors in EU anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, and safeguard investigations. Her expertise extends beyond the EU, having advised clients in other jurisdictions as well, such as Morocco for example. She has also assisted clients in procedures before the General Court of the EU in trade defence cases.

Customs

Emmanuelle also has considerable experience in customs proceedings, where she assists clients with complex matters, including requests for repayment from Belgian customs authorities and related litigation in Belgian courts.

Foreign Subsidies Regulation

Emmanuelle is also well-versed in the EU's Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR). She has advised clients on its practical implications and on how to navigate the complexities of the FSR effectively, minimizing risks and seizing opportunities within the regulatory framework.

Before joining Van Bael & Bellis, Emmanuelle worked in a Brussels law firm where she focused on trade remedies and WTO dispute settlement. Emmanuelle also gained invaluable experience working at the Permanent Mission of Belgium to the United Nations in New York, where she represented Belgium in various legal committees.
