Philippe De Baere Appointed Co-Managing Partner of Van Bael & Bellis

Philippe De Baere has been named Co-Managing Partner of Van Bael & Bellis alongside the firm’s long-running Managing Partner, Jean-François Bellis. Philippe De Baere’s managing partner status is effective from September 2016.

Van Bael & Bellis was established in 1986 by Ivo Van Bael and Jean-François Bellis. Philippe De Baere joined the firm as an associate in 1988 and became a partner in 1994. He has witnessed the firm grow into one of Europe’s most highly-regarded firms with renowned expertise in international trade and EU competition law.

Philippe De Baere says “I am delighted to be entrusted with the task of developing the firm’s growth alongside Jean-François.”

Jean-François Bellis commented: “I am pleased that Philippe has assumed this important new responsibility and I look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”

Philippe De Baere is widely regarded for his expertise in the area of international trade law and WTO matters. He has been involved in some of the most prominent cases in the field and represents clients before the European Commission, the General Court, the European Court of Justice, WTO Panels and the WTO Appellate Body.
