On 23 July 2018, Van Bael & Bellis counsel Isabelle Van Damme spoke at a seminar entitled “Negotiations on Fisheries Subsidies: Understanding Subsidies and IUU Fishing”, organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. Isabelle examined Article 3 of the current negotiating text and focused on the definition of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and the conditions under which a WTO prohibition on IUU fishing subsidies might apply.
