Partners Peter L’Ecluse and Catherine Longeval, who co-head the Life Sciences Department of Van Bael & Bellis, held a round table at Informa’s 2021 EU Pharmaceutical Law Forum on 19 May 2021. The topic under discussion was “Expanding Possibilities for Unauthorised and Off-Label Use of Medicines Before and After Marketing Authorisation”. Catherine and Peter addressed a range of pharmaceutical issues such as compassionate use, off-label use, temporary emergency authorisations and named patient programmes. All of this prompted a vivid debate with many questions from the audience.

The slide deck of the round table can be accessed here.

At the same conference, Peter L’Ecluse also participated in a “Dual Dialogue” with Caroline Stockwell, Vice-President and Head of Legal Affairs International, Intercept. Caroline and Peter offered guidance on digital interactions involving healthcare organisations, healthcare practitioners, patient organisations and patients.

On the following day of the conference, Van Bael & Bellis partner Mike Clancy also participated in a “Dual Dialogue” with Chris Verleye, Assistant General Counsel, Johnson & Johnson Law Department Europe, during which they addressed competition law considerations for mergers, collaborations and distribution arrangements and specifically the Commission’s expanded use of its Article 22 Merger Review procedure, focused on the pharmaceutical sector.

Further information on the conference can be accessed here.
