Van Bael & Bellis counsel Etsuko Kameoka has authored an article entitled “A Proposal to Reform the Fining Methods in Japanese Competition Law Investigations in light of EU Competition Law Practice”. It examines the problems with the current fining methods and other procedural issues in Japanese competition law enforcement and how it compares to the EU’s system.
The article is published by New Business Law (in Japanese) which has issued a special edition (No. 1101) covering the controversial debate on the current reform of Japanese competition law along with the Japan Fair Trade Commission‘s public consultation on this reform.
